2025 Word of the Year

ACTIONABLE is our 2025 word of the year – because real strategy should move you forward. Here’s what actionable looks like to us.

You’ve been there: You just spent a few Ks on strategy from an expert… the presentation goes past time… the deck gets handed over… and no one knows what to do next. That beautiful, glossy deck full of insights sits there gathering digital dust in your Downloads folder.

While you may feel like your budget just got evaporated, what’s even more lamentable is the gut punch you just got to your momentum and hopes for a new chapter.

I’m wilting as I write this because I know the pain! If our job is simply to churn out some strategy document that’s beautiful, buzzword-rich, and put on a performance that makes us look smart, we fail you.

We believe strategy only matters if it gets you moving.

When we say we deliver actionable strategy, here’s what we mean (let’s raise the bar!)…

  • It should consider multiple angles: SEO, client experience, your five-year goals
  • It should take into account your actual staffing and hiring capacity – meaning, we won’t try to talk you into hiring a $120K/year social media manager to manage a $200K ad budget.
  • In our presentation, we’re probably going to gloss over the stuff that makes us nerd out (unless you’re into that, too) and spend more time on what it means for you.
  • We’ll turn insights into strategy, and break that strategy down into roadmaps – and going one further, we’ll lay out your next 1-2-3 clear, doable action steps you can take before the week/month/quarter is over.


Being actionable means being realistic. And being realistic doesn’t have to be a bummer – that’s where our team’s creativity and experience running strategy for brands of all sizes, stages, and sectors adds so much value. Constraints truly can and do serve to push the best ideas forward.

Part of being actionable is also serving up the hype to go along with the action steps. We’ll remind you of why you got into this in the first place, and keep the vision clear and out in front of all the work we do together. Distraction and lack of focus have caused the death of many great strategies – in most cases, it’s not the strategy that fails, it’s the full commit. (Worth saying: You’ve got to give strategy about 6 months to run before you make any pivots. Trust the work that was done and let it play out.)
